Election season 2012 is here and Jeff Lauderdale is the perfect choice for Island County Commissioner, District 1. Jeff stands out because of his Leadership, Integrity, Knowledge, and Experience (LIKE).

Leadership is the fundamental element that was developed, and refined during Jeff’s twenty-six year, Seaman to Commander, career in the U.S. Navy. Jeff led hundreds of men and women during his service aboard Trident nuclear submarines. He became the executive in charge of department heads, division chiefs, all Sailors, and civilians under him. Leadership provides direction and fosters unity and teamwork essential for success in the military, the private sector, or Island County government.

Integrity is recognized as honesty, sincerity, and accuracy in all of one’s actions. Integrity is a stand out element within Jeff. Integrity is essential in the Navy and County Government. Integrity is the nucleus that binds and strengthens leadership, knowledge, and experience. When people meet and talk with Jeff they soon recognize that he possesses this critical element. Jeff Lauderdale is honest, sincere, and accurate in both word and action.

Knowledge is possession of facts, truths, and principles acquired from research and experiences. Jeff Lauderdale is a critical thinker. He researches and analyzes issues then solves problems with available resources. Jeff has studied and understands local issues such as the: mandatory septic system inspection program; clean water utility district; numerous Growth Management Act requirements; urban growth areas; our rural character; and, the proposed new Freeland sewer controversy. Jeff is an expert in budget processes ranging from establishing budgets, using zero based budgeting practices, and managing billion dollar budgets.

Experience is practical knowledge, skill, or practice gained from direct observation of and participation in events in a particular activity. For the past two years Jeff Lauderdale has attended Island County Commissioner Meetings, Hearings, Working Sessions, Island County Counsel of Government meetings, Island Transit committee meetings, and many other local government related activities. Jeff Lauderdale knows what is going on in local government and how it impacts all of us. Jeff Lauderdale is a researcher and analyzer of local and state issues who provides practical solutions to our real problems. That is why I LIKE Jeff!
