Candidate Close up- Phil Collier, Island County Commissioner Candidate District 2

Author:Publius

Phil, a local boy who graduated from Oak Harbor High School class of 1975. The same month after graduating, Phil opened his own business Hilltop Auto Service and Express Lube. Phil turned the $5,200 investment into a multi-million dollar business employing 12 skilled workers to date.

Candidate Phil Collier is the only candidate who has been self employed at the age of 18. Today, after 37 years of business, Phil will use his skills and training, his common business sense to lead Island County to a prosperous brighter future if elected County Commissioner. He will unite the left wing and right wing in unison under his leadership as an Independent.

All the other 3 candidates fail to understand that Oak Harbor needs to grow in employment opportunities with strong support of NAS Whidbey. From San De Fuca south to Clinton is historic rural farming and retirement community must not have encroachment from super box stores such as Costco, Wal-mart, Target and large hotel complexes polluting the views of water fronts and beaches.

Phil is the only true conservative conservationist. He will not spend tax dollars to train elephants to fly. Phil has been active in supporting low income senior housing at no cost to county tax payers.

CW, This is why I am running for Island County Commissioner. I am a business person, not a politician. I have several parcels of land on Whidbey Island and am tired of my tax dollars being flushed down the toilet. I will not increase any current taxes or any new taxes. If I am elected commissioner and overruled by the other two commissioners, I can’t help that. I did my best. But I can promise you this CW, I have a 1970 Mach 1 Mustang loaded original condition bought new from Berg Ford. The car is yours if I vote to increase any new or current taxes. Consider this a written contract between you and I. I have had dozens of e-mails from Angie Homola and Jill Johnson supporters they say the county needs to have politicians and not business people who can balance the budget. My reply is this, the federal government is 17 trillion in debt. Our state is about 3 billion in debt, because of politicians. Put a business person in charge like myself and we’ll have a balanced budget without raising taxes whatsoever.

Forget CW Phil; what do I need do to get your Mustang
First thing I do would be to dress it up with gold bow ties front and rear
and don’t let Cliff Howard in on this game; by now you probably know he too likes cars in addition to his connecting dots of acts/events to make a serious point

Gold bow ties front and center?

You do know what is found on the last two pages of every Island County Chevy’s owners manual?
          An Island Transit schedule.

Besides don’t you drive an old AMC Pacer and not a Chevy? (snicker-snicker)

I can’t vote for Mr. Collier due to his dishonest business practices. Several years ago, just before leaving on deployment I decided to replace brakes and change the oil in CINCHOUSE’s car. After the brake job the car didn’t handle or brake properly so I took it back in for a check. I was told there was nothing wrong, so I then took the car to another shop in Oak Harbor. There I was told the rotors had been turned improperly and had been damaged. I took the car back to Hilltop Texaco and gave them the written report, to which Mr. Collier agreed to fix the problem. We arranged an appointment (a few days after my departure). When my wife showed up for the brake repair appointment Mr. Collier refused to honor his agreement. I don’t do business there any longer. I also learned in talking to other military members in the community that there were several similar stories about Mr. Collier’s business practices. Fool me once….. Sign me “poorer but wiser”.

GrampZ please give me your full name, year, make, model of vehicle and license number. I keep very accurate records. This is not my policy nor has it ever been to rip off anybody. I wouldn’t have made it 37 years in business. I just want to make sure you are not my competitors that write false claims against my business that occors on google and yahoo. It wouldn’t be the first and won’t be the last. If you don’t have your records or accidently lost them I have them on disks. What doesn’t make sense sir all brakes come with a 3 year warranty from Hilltop, and you having to make an arrangement with me very bizarre. I have a special fund set aside for military families that are having a tough time financially.

That is complete bull. Either your wife brought the car back to the wrong shop, or your telling lies. The shop gets paid for warranty work from the parts manufacturer that was used, so they would never turn away warranty work.

Oh, so I am a liar, as is my wife? And, you were there to witness our lies? Pretty profound! It happened just as I described, only I wasn’t there. As I stated before, I’d left on deployment and my wife was here, with our two small sons trying to have a problem taken care of without success. It happende over fifteen years ago. If you want to pay for a polygraph I’m willing. You name the time and place. And on a side note: calling someone a liar and being unable to prove the lie could be called slander. Do you want to do that dance? I cound use the extra money, as could my attorney.

Are you sure you havent lost your memory? where is your proof that this is not a lie, Mr Collier asked for your name, or invoice number, or year, make and model of the vehicle. As far as your dance, I usually dont dance with men. Thanks any way.
