Rick Larsen Is No Friend Of Our Second Amendment & No Friend Of Firearm Owners

Author:Cliff

Recently I sent a letter to all of our Representatives and Congressmen concerning the new laws that are being proposed to limit our 2nd Amendment Rights and that will place onerous restrictions on legal lawful firearm owners. I received a response back from our Representative Rick Larsen and I thought I would share this with everyone.

He is no friend of the 2nd Amendment that is for sure. He has teamed up with liberal New York Representative Caroline McCarthy who comes from a State that has the most restrictive laws on firearms and who in the past has shown that she is for every piece of legislation designed to remove firearms from the citizens. Rick Larsen could not have picked a more anti 2nd Amendment politician to team up with.

Could Rick Larsen be more out of touch with the citizens of his state?

Here is Representative Rick Larsen’s response to my letter:

“Dear Mr. Howard:

Thank you for contacting me about steps we can take to prevent gun violence and make our communities safer. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

Within the halls of Congress my colleagues and I are taking part in an important debate on the most effective manner of protecting the American people from gun violence. From the attack on Congresswoman Giffords that left six dead to the shootings in Colorado, Wisconsin, Oregon and Connecticut, it is too painfully clear that we must take meaningful action to make our communities safer. The 2008 Skagit County mass shootings that killed six brought this type of tragedy to our home. No single law can prevent the actions of a madman, but that is no excuse to not take action.

I continue to hold my position that Congress should reinstate the assault weapons ban and ban high-capacity ammunition clips above 10 rounds per clip. These military-grade weapons serve no legitimate purpose in civilian life and as such, I have cosponsored legislation that aims to remove these unnecessary weapons from our streets.

We must close the gun show and private sale loopholes and strengthen background check requirements to make sure criminals and the mentally ill are unable to purchase guns. I am proud to have joined my colleague, Rep. Caroline McCarthy of New York, in sponsoring legislation that would provide for universal background checks to any individual wishing to buy, sell, or transfer a gun. Similarly, I support legislation that strengthens our ability to track the illegal flow of guns that too often fall through the cracks. This is not a matter of tracking gun ownership for those individuals who legally have the right to possess firearms, but is about identifying illegal activity that threatens our collective safety.

Legislation on gun safety is part, but not all of the solution. Mental illness has been shown to be a factor in some of these mass shootings. Mental illnesses are often misunderstood and under-diagnosed. Health providers need to give mental health the same attention that physical health is given. Congress should direct more research into mental illness and provide more funding for effective care of mentally ill patients. The Mental Health First Act, which I am a cosponsor of, seeks to address the shortfalls that exist in mental health training.

We have not seen the last of violent crimes in our country, but if Congress and the President act, we can make our communities safer and shrink this cycle of violence.

Sincerely,

Rick Larsen

United States Representative

Washington State, 2nd District

Gutting the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution and WA State Constitution only makes sense if your goal is “anti-freedom” and oppression of law-abiding people.

These proposed measures do NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING to infringe upon or stop senseless acts such as “the attack on Congresswoman Giffords that left six dead to the shootings in Colorado, Wisconsin”, etc…

Those cited events by the Congressman are an entirely BOGUS excuse to further the disassembly of rights granted us in both our US and WA State Constitutions.

Legislators who propose what Larsen now proposes are dancing upon the graves of those dead children in Newtown CT. Isn’t it interesting how Larsen completely OMITTED that MOST RECENT event from his letter response, eh?

Want some more insight as why what Rick Larsen is doing is part of a much larger charade being perpetuated by the Democrats?

It is not “common sense” to support laws that will have zero effect on the mentally ill and criminals using firearms to kill people.

Rick Larsen uses an example of Isaac Zamora to tout his legislation even though Zamora was a convicted felon with a mental illness that could not purchase a firearm legally. He was in a special program for criminal offenders with mental illness…and he used a stolen firearm to perpetrate his murders. Alex Zamora stated at his arraignment “I kill for God. I listen to God.”.

Maybe you can explain to us just how Rick Larsen’s legislation would have stopped this mentally ill person who was on supervision by the state as a convicted felon with a mental illness from stealing a firearm and killing for God? He certainly did not follow any of our current laws so why would you and Rick Larsen think he would follow these new laws? Criminals like Zamora do not get background checks before stealing firearms and could care less if the weapon they stole had a 10 round magazine or a 100 round magazine…

Rick Larsen’s legislation would not have stopped these murders (and many others) so how can it be considered “common sense”? Especially seeing how it only effects legal lawful firearm owners.

“Similarly, I support legislation that strengthens our ability to track the illegal flow of guns that too often fall through the cracks.”

Legislation that strengthens our ability to track.

So, let see here, Rick Larson and the government feel it is their responcibility to protect it’s citizens by identifying illegal activity of the mentally ill, but yet to this day cannot track or locate the many “military grade” weapons that they “allowed” to slip into Mexico via the now infamous “gun-running” feasco that Eric Holder still blatently refuses to admit to. Hmmm.

Kevin, you need to get your head out of your a$$; you cannot legislate common sense to the mentally ill or anyone for that matter. Larson is supporting this empty legislation so that he can continue to recieve campaign funds from his party to get reelected.

This second amendment issue is merely a distraction from the REAL business that the government should be consentrating on… over-barrowing and foolish spending.

Kevin, maybe you’d like a whistle in lieu of firearm, if you, your family, or property are ever in grave danger. Don’t worry, Larsen will also protect you. NOT. Since you don’t like the right to firearms, you can throw your whistle at any perp who is trying to get you with his weapon of choice.

I think Larsen (and Rick) needs a complete non-P.C. course on the U.S. Constitution and the real reason we have a 2nd Amendment. I suggest Hillsdale College’s free online courses.

Rick Larsen is obviously playing to the tune of the his TRUE masters – the Democrats – and NOT the majority of the people who he is elected to represent.

His stance on this issue should be broadcast far and wide. It’s way past time for Rick Larsen is removed from Congress.

Therefore, hundreds (or thousands) of laws, regulations, and restrictions targeting law abiding citizens, and their Second Amendment rights can prevent the actions of a madman.

What political party does Larsen belong? Kevin and Rick Larsen and company actually “believe” they can fix stupid.

I got the same letter from Rep. Larson, this progressive liberal and anti-constitutionalist POS should be voted out of office as soon as possible. We need to remember to make this letter a campaign issue next election, so save your copy.

I have been corresponding with, voting for, and “watching” Cong. Larsen for … what ??? … 10-11 years? The ONLY thing I have to say now is … where is Jack Metcalf when we need him??

Rick Larsen portrayed himself as the latest, great, second coming of Sen. Henry M. “Scoop” Jackson — we even ‘joked’ about it — but Scoop Jackson (who gave me a nomination to the USNA) he is NOT.

He’s portayed himself as a ‘friend’ of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution over and over and over and over again. I have the correspondence to justify this statement.

But Cong. Larsen has been MIA the past several years with his votes in Washington, D.C. (where he actually lives these days). He talks the talk in the District, but he never walks the walk. He has grown comfortable and “fat” in his political seat and ONLY adheres to the Nancy Pelosi wing of the U.S. Congress now days.

What a pity … what a promising heir to “Scoop” several years ago… and today?? What a pathetic, partisan hack and a loss for Washington State.
